What we have here is a fantastic little 1963 Dodge Dart 270. Now, the story behind the Dart begins in 1960, when Dodge created the name for a line of slightly-smaller full-size cars. As years went by, however, the Dart was progressively downsized until it became Dodge's go-to compact car. By 1963, the change to a compact car was complete. For 1963, all Dodge Darts were powered by slant six engines, either the 170 C.I. or a 225 C.I. version. These were canted 30 degrees to the right for a lower hood line, each beathing through a single-barrel carburetor. The mid-level model was the 270 (of which this car is an example), which also included an interior color-matching convertible top and started at $2,079 new. This specific Dart is powered by the larger engine option, a 225 C.I. slant-six paired to a single-barrel carburetor making 145hp. That power is delivered to the rear wheels through a 3-speed pushbutton "Torqueflite" automatic transmission, giving this little Dart an exceptionally smooth ride. The paint matches the fender tag in the original "Polar White" color, which shows its age in some spots but overall is in good condition. The interior also matches the fender tag, coming in at an original "Vermilion Red" vinyl color. The interior looks to be all original and shows its age in places, but that originality just adds to the overall personality of the car. The convertible top also matches the interior color, making this little Dodge a great driver and just a fun car in general. Because the 270 was the middle trim, this specific Dart is fitted with all the "270" options such as power steering, ventilated windows, a defroster, a heater, adjustable mirrors, power wipers, and adjustable bench seats. In addition, this car rides on a set of American Racing TT wheels on some nice blackwall tires. If you're in the market for a nice, driving classic, then this sweet little Dart is the Dodge for you!
